I Want to Start a Business, But It’s too Hard!

Spread the love

Have you ever said anything like this to yourself?

  • It’s hard to start a business.
  • I need lots of money to start.
  • I don’t know what to charge.
  • I don’t have enough experience.
  • I’ll never be successful.

Lies. All lies.

It’s all in your head. When you change your mindset, you’ll change your life. The problem starts with believing all of the crappy thoughts you have.

What if you actually focused on what you really wanted to do? What if you believed the things that were impossible were actually possible? What if you actually thought that it was easier to achieve your goals than you think it is?

When I first started my business I thought that making money was hard. It was hard because I thought it was.

I thought I needed a bunch of letters after my name to get money. I added a few and it did bump my income, but it wasn’t for the benefit of my business. I wanted to make money in my business, not my day job as a nurse.

I thought I had to act a certain way to have a business and earn money. That didn’t work because I wasn’t being who I really was but mimicking what I thought “professional” people did.

This led me to think that I probably shouldn’t act like my real self. That certainly would be the last nail in the coffin for my fledgling business.\

When I got to the point where I had no clients, I threw my hands up and said “Screw It!”I’m going to be who I am, unapologetically, and do what I do.

That’s when things changed.

We look at all these other people with success and think they know some secret. There’s no secret.

We look at these people with alphabet soup behind their name and think that’s their secret to success.

It isn’t.

We look at these people and scratch our heads. How the heck did they do it?

You think to yourself- I’m smart. I’m honest. I’m a hard worker. I’m creative. I’m fun.

Why doesn’t anyone recognize it???

Because you don’t believe in yourself.

So you hide.

You don’t take action. You say that you do, but you’re taking the same actions that are getting you the same crappy results as usual.

What if you changed the actions you took so that you could be successful?

Getting over the fear means you need to take action. Don’t be focused on today and where you are now. Focus on where you want to be a year, five years, ten years from now and then be committed to making it happen.
