Shifting with the Pandemic

First off, I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during this time.

The pandemic has caused a lot of people to take stock of their lives and careers. Many people have learned that their so-called recession proof career wasn’t and were laid-off or furloughed.

Many nurses are still looking for jobs or have resigned to applying for unemployment benefits – something that they’ve never thought they’d have to do.

Others are making moves to start their own business or taking this time to focus on building their businesses that they didn’t have time to while working.

All these options show that nurses are resilient and can change with the times. This time has been difficult for us all and it’s important to stay optimistic about the future all while making moves to keep everything afloat.

It’s ok if the plans you had pre-pandemic had to change a bit now that we’re in the thick of it now.

It’s ok if you decided that instead of looking for another nursing job after being furloughed that you’re now exploring options outside of nursing.

It’s ok if you decided to completely retire after a pandemic lay-off.

It’s ok if your business has to now adapt to life post-COVID and you have to scale back some offerings or add new offerings.

No one knows how to cope through a pandemic and you have to do the best you can do during this time.

I’ve had to make some changes in ReNursing Edu that align with the current times.

While NP schools have had to wrap up the spring semester online, I realize that there may be a shift in the future regarding NP education. Mainly the bottleneck that will occur with future students and lack of job prospects upon graduation as a result of the pandemic.

NP Board Review courses, resources, and the FB group will all still be available, but I know that many nurses (and NPs) are now shifting their focus to look at options outside of nursing (and that is completely OK!).

Nurses are contacting me who do want to make a change that they may have thought of earlier, but just didn’t have the courage to do so earlier. All of these circumstances have caused me to move ReNursing Edu back into the career-changing and business-building sector it was in early on when I first started the business in 2013.

What this means for future NPs, current NP students, and practicing NPs who have looked to ReNursing Edu for education and advice…nothing will change. All of my books, courses, and products are still being manufactured, created, and sold. The ReNursing NP Board Review FB group is still active (join if you haven’t already!) and I’ll still post questions and helpful tips.

What does this mean for nurses looking for a change?

It means that I’ll be talking about career-changing and starting a business a whole heck of a lot more often than I have been lately. It means you need to be on the lookout for more products and tools to help you with your pivot. And lastly, it means that a new FB group for nurses looking for a career change or business has been created and you need to join if you want tips on how to pivot.

Nurse PIVOTERS // Career Change and Business Development & Encourgement was created to provide just that…development and encourgement for nurses who are trying to transition during this time.

I’m super excited to re-develop this portion of ReNursing Edu because I have so much I want to share with you! There are lessons, videos, cheatsheets and more on the FB group and I’ll be adding more in the coming months. So join us and be on the lookout for more pivoting information!
