Spread the love

Admiral Sylvia Trent-Adams is now in an acting role as U.S. Surgeon General. She is the first Surgeon General who is not a physician, but she is not the first nurse sworn into that position. Dr. Richard Carmona under Pres. George W. Bush was a nurse and a physician and he indeed referred to himself as the first nurse as Surgeon General. Admiral Sylvia Trent-Adams makes history as not only a nurse appointed to this position, but by being the first African-American nurse in this role.

Salute to diversity and all nurses serving the country! For more info read here.
